Ride the waves, Baby!

What did I say! I knew it would just keep getting better and better. I'm making progress. Now this is a good improvement from the "ocean waves" I made in the previous post. Go, Kiki!

Finally fingerwaves

It has taken me 4 to 5 weeks to get a decent attempt at fingerwaves. Finally, a good set of waves. Thanks to Tigi. Tigi is a student as well. She is from Ethiopia. She was great and patient with me. Of course, I need more practice to make them look excellent, but I'm finally on my way.

I'm taking instruction.
Then I practice.......

And Viola!
~Fingerwaves~

This is Tigi's brother, Biruk. Not to bad on the eyes for a playa from Ethiopia.
Just kidding. He's very nice and a focused student.

9 weeks into school

No she doesn't have a beard! Just some areas on the face we have to know, but nice doobie I think.
My first haircut. It's got that longer on one side style. The question is, did I do that on purpose? I'm still trying to figure that out :-)
My bow tie style.

School is going along fine, but that's because I decided that it would. I'm learning very quickly that you have to want something bad enough to get up 5 days a week out of you comfortable bed, drive umpteen miles, to pay someone your good hard earned money just to teach you a thing or two about something you already know something about! Whew! But seriously, I want it. I want to know more than just a little bit about hair. I intend to be an expert in my field. That's why I'm working hard to get the understanding I need to pass the state board's exam. I decided to take a few pictures of my work. I want to see how I progress as time goes on.
My goal to complete my education in cosmetology and receive my license, then go on to take more classes to specialize in color and natural hair care.
(I don't think you have to be a licensed cosmetologist to work with natural hair, but you do however to apply color.)

Styling and Profiling

I did it and I'm so proud of myself. I enrolled myself in school for cosmetology on November 11th 2008. I started school before, but didn't finish. This time it's different! I've made up in my mind that what I want to achieve is very important. So no more putting myself on the back burner. This school doesn't offer financial aid. It's straight out of pocket. I worked dog hard to get the down payment to enroll and last night was the first day of class. I was taught you don't appreciate anything until you have to pay for it yourself. I am so grateful that God open doors for me. He made a way for me to obtain the money and then turn right around and made a way for me to reimbursed for my tution! Isn't He Awesome!

This is Ms. Murray. I should call her Ms. Love because she guinuely shows love to all the students from what I've seen. She is one of the school's administrators who assisted me in my enrollment process.

And introducing Mr. JW. He loves to make people smile and laugh. He'll just about say and do anything to get it. He's very friendly and also a student at the university. He was the first one to speak to me and the first to make me..........Smile :-)
